To convert the mixed fraction into an improper fraction we will multiply the divisor by the quotient and add it to the remainder.
 
For better understanding we are discussing some examples:
1. What is 2 2/3 as an improper fraction?
2 2/3
= (2✕3+2)/3
= (6+2)/3
= 8/3
An improper fraction of 2 2/3 is 8/3.

2. What is 1 3/4 as an improper fraction?
= 1 3/4
= (1✕4+3)/4
= (4+3)/4
= 7/4
1 3/4 as an improper fraction is 7/4.

3. What is 4 2/3 as an improper fraction?
4 2/3
= (4✕3+2)/3
= (12+2)/3
= 14/3
Answer: 4 2/3 as an improper fraction is 14/3.
