Quadrilateral & types of quadrilateral
The quadrilateral is a two-dimensional closed shape which is made from four line segments.
- Quadrilateral has four sides.
- It has four vertices.
- Quadrilateral has four interior angles.
- It has two diagonals.
- A quadrilateral is also known as a polygon.
- Sum of all the angles in a quadrilateral is 360º.
There are various Quadrilaterals which we use in our daily life. Let's discuss the classifications of Quadrilateral, its properties, etc.
Square
Square is a quadrilateral which has all sides of equal length & all angles are 90º.
- Square has four vertices.
- All interior angles of a square are 90º.
- Square has two diagonals of equal length.
- Diagonals of a square equally intersect to each other.
- Opposite sides of the square are parallel & equal in length.
Rectangle
The rectangle is a quadrilateral whose opposite sides are equal in length.
- Opposite sides of the rectangle are parallel & equal in length.
- Rectangle has all angles are 90º.
- Length of it's both diagonals are equal.
Rhombus
Rhombus is a quadrilateral whose all sides are equal in length but their diagonals are different in length & their opposite angles are equal.
- Length of diagonals of a rhombus is not the same.
- Both diagonals of a rhombus intersect at 90º to each other.
Parallelogram
A parallelogram is also a quadrilateral whose opposite sides are parallel & equal to each other & opposite angles are equal.
- In parallelogram opposite side are parallel to each other.
- Sum of its adjacent angles is 180º.
Kite
Kite is a quadrilateral whose adjacent sides are equal in length.
- We may find the area of a kite by dividing it into two equal triangles.
- Kite has two diagonals.
Trapezium
A trapezium is a quadrilateral whose two opposite sides are parallel to each other. While its other two sides are non-parallel.
